Dr David Monyae's professional life has evolved in three sectors thus academic, business and government. Currently, Dr Monyae is a Section Manager, Policy Analysis in the International Relations and Protocol Division (IRPD) of the Parliament of the Republic of South Africa. He worked for the Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA) in Midrand, Johannesburg for six years in the research and advisory Division specializing in developmental financing specifically on infrastructural financing and risk in Africa and

emerging markets particularly BRICS countries.

Prior to this Dr Monyae lectured South Africa's Africa Policy and Africa's International Relations in the Department of International Relations at the University of the Witwatersrand (WITS), Johannesburg. Dr Monyae has published widely and is a highly respected and sort analysts featuring in local and global electronic and print media. Among many academic associations Dr Monyae represented South Africa in IBSA and BRICS academic forums and was one of the 10 Ministerial Task Team that reviewed the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS).

In October 2015, Dr Monyae will be joining the University of Johannesburg as the Co-Director of the Confucius Institute. He holds a PhD Degree in International Relations from Wits University.
